  • Months 1–3: 100% of ordinary wage (cap ₩2,500,000, floor ₩700,000)
  • Months 4–6: 100% of ordinary wage (cap ₩2,000,000)
  • Month 7+: 80% of ordinary wage (cap ₩1,500,000, floor ₩700,000)
  • 3+3 policy: first 3 months capped at ₩2,500,000 each parent
  • Maximum leave: 12 months per parent per child

How long can I take parental leave in Korea?

Each parent can take up to 12 months of parental leave per child. The child must be 8 years old or younger (or in the 2nd grade of elementary school or below) at the time of the leave.

What is the 3+3 parents parental leave policy?

When both parents use parental leave within 12 months of the child's birth (simultaneously or consecutively), both receive an increased cap of ₩2,500,000 per month for the first 3 months each.

Can contract workers receive parental leave pay?

Yes, as long as you are enrolled in employment insurance and have accumulated 180+ insured days before the start of parental leave. Employment type (regular, contract, dispatched) does not matter.
